Recognition of Prior Learning
Prior learning, weighed on its merits.
Many applicants arrive with years of professional practice, or with credentials earned elsewhere. The University's policy on that history is short enough to state in full on this page — and honest about what it does not offer.
The Policy
Three clauses, and nothing hidden.
Prior learning is considered
Prior professional experience, existing credentials and formal study are considered by the Office of Admissions as part of the ordinary admission review. An applicant who states them fully gives the reviewer the whole picture.
No automatic credit exchange
The University does not operate automatic credit transfer or equivalence tables with other institutions. A credential earned elsewhere is not converted into standing here by rule, and the University makes no such promise in either direction.
Case by case, in writing
Where prior learning bears on an application, the Office of Admissions weighs it case by case and states its decision in writing as part of the admission decision. There is no separate petition and no fee for the review.
The credential ladder itself — from the Accelerated Foundation Credential to the Fellowship Professional Diploma — is described in the academic framework. Every student completes each level's own examination; prior learning informs admission, not conferral.
In Practice
State it once, in the application.
There is no separate form. List your professional history and any existing credentials where the application asks for them, and the Office of Admissions takes them into account in its review. Applicants with an unusual case — clinical licensure, extensive prior study, a credential from another institution — are welcome to write to the Office before applying.
